The emphasis is on: what is chronic kidney disease, diabetic and hypertension as the commonest but potentially preventable and treatable causes of CKD, early features of CKD, and importance of early screening and treatment, treatment options for ESRD with particular emphasis on the pros and cons of CAPD vs HD. For those already on dialysis, a section was dedicated to highlight the importance of phosphate control. Pictures of renal osteodystrophy, cardiovascular calcification and calciphylaxis were displayed to demonstrate the potential complications due to poor phosphate control. Next to this poster there is a food demo to demonstrate diet which is rich in phosphate and the potential substitution to it. A dietician is also at hand to give diet advice.
